Description
Soulnote D-2 version 2 is a discrete, non-NFB DAC voiced for natural timing and space. It runs four ES9038PRO chips in dual-mono, clocks them with TI LMX2594 DDS, offers NOS mode, and now accepts a 10 MHz external reference via SMA for direct X-3 connection. Digital inputs include USB, dual coaxial, and dual AES/EBU; USB supports PCM to 768 kHz and DSD to 22.6 MHz. With short, fully discrete analog stages, Soulnote D-2 ver2 drops cleanly into reference systems.

Soulnote D-2 v2
Soulnote D-2 v2 is a discrete, non NFB DAC voiced for natural timing, spacious imaging, and lifelike microdynamics, with advanced clocking and a short analog path.
Design and engineering
A dual mono converter layout with discrete I/V and a passive first order output network keeps phase behavior simple and preserves transient edges. Mechanical grounding and internal layout follow Series 3 learnings to minimize vibrational and electromagnetic interaction.
Connectivity and control
Multiple digital inputs cover computer audio and transports. The external 10 MHz reference input enables system level clocking with a high grade master. NOS mode provides a filter light option for those who prioritize immediacy and leading edge definition. Front panel selection is direct and repeatable.
What distinguishes it
A clear, energetic presentation with strong spatial focus from a discrete non NFB analog stage and careful mechanical control, plus the ability to synchronize to a studio grade master clock.
Who it is for
Listeners who want a highly revealing, time coherent DAC that can scale with master clocking and careful system tuning.
In the box
Main unit, AC power cable, footers, documentation.
