Fono Acustica Legato

The Fono Acustica Legato is the entry-level cable series from this Spanish high-end cable manufacturer, designed to bring the brand's build quality and attention to termination across a complete suite of cable types. Available as interconnects, speaker cables, jumper cables, digital cables, USB, Ethernet, and power cords, the Legato covers every connection in a high-end audio system under a unified design approach. All types share the Legato's signature blue and black nylon jacket and are made in Spain.

About Fono Acustica

Fono Acustica was founded in 2008 by Spanish designer Félix Ávalos. The brand is best known internationally for its upper-tier cable lines (Allegro, Armonico, and Virtuoso), which use proprietary silver-copper and silver-gold alloy conductors and have been reviewed and listed as recommended components in Stereophile. The Legato sits below these lines as the brand's accessible entry point, using OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductors while sharing the same manufacturing origin and approach to termination quality.

Construction

All Legato cable types use OFC conductors. The jacket is a blue and black nylon sleeve consistent across every type in the series, giving the full Legato loom a uniform visual identity. Connector housings are anodized aluminum where applicable. Terminals are specified by connection type: pure copper with rhodium plating on interconnect and digital cables; pure copper with gold plating on speaker cables and jumper cables; brass with gold plating on USB and Ethernet connectors.

The speaker cable uses 16 strands of 19.5 AWG OFC, the heaviest conductor specification in the range. Interconnect and digital XLR cables use 4 strands of 19.5 AWG OFC. Jumper cables use 7 strands of 19.5 AWG OFC. The digital RCA coaxial cable uses a 1.0mm OFC center conductor with 100% OFC shielding. The USB cable uses silver-plated OFC conductors. Power cables use high-purity copper with PVC insulation and a 100% copper braided, flexible PVC jacket.

Cables in the Series

The Legato series is notable for including cable types rarely found together in a single entry-level range. In addition to the standard interconnects, speaker cables, and power cords, it includes a digital coaxial RCA, a digital XLR (AES/EBU), a USB cable, and an Ethernet (RJ45) cable, making it practical as a complete loom for systems using network streamers or DACs with USB or digital inputs. Jumper cables for bi-wire-capable loudspeakers are also available within the series.
