Description
The Gryphon Vanta is Gryphon's flagship cable series, available as power cords, speaker cables, XLR and RCA interconnects, phono cables, and digital cables. Every type uses proprietary G7 Silver-Gold solid-core conductors with PTFE insulation, a braided silver-copper shield, and a black polyurethane jacket. Connectors are Oyaide for AC power and Neutrik for signal, with custom Gryphon aluminum housings. The Gryphon Vanta uses the same G7 alloy found inside every Gryphon component.

Gryphon Vanta Cables
The Gryphon Vanta is Gryphon's flagship cable series, covering every connection in a high-end audio system: power cords, speaker cables, balanced XLR interconnects, single-ended RCA interconnects, phono cables, and digital cables in both coaxial and AES/EBU formats, as well as USB. Every type in the series is built on the same proprietary G7 Silver-Gold alloy conductors, applying the same metallurgy and construction philosophy across the full signal chain. Designed and manufactured in Denmark, the Vanta series represents, in Gryphon's words, the finest cables they know how to make.
Forty Years of Cable Manufacturing
Gryphon began making cables in 1985, immediately following the introduction of their first product, The Head Amp. The motivation was consistent with Gryphon's wider design philosophy: audio perfection requires control of every variable in the playback chain, and that includes the cables connecting each component. Four decades later, that commitment remains unchanged. As Gryphon states in the Vanta documentation, advancements in metallurgy and dielectric materials made a new generation of cable performance possible, and the Vanta series is the result.
One measure of how seriously Gryphon takes cable is that the same G7 Silver-Gold alloy used in the Vanta series is the identical metallurgy used for all point-to-point internal wiring inside every Gryphon component. The conductor running inside an Apex power amplifier is made from the same alloy as the cable connecting it to the preamplifier.
The G7 Silver-Gold Alloy
The G7 alloy is Gryphon's proprietary Silver-Gold conductor material, developed for both the Vanta cable series and the internal wiring of Gryphon's electronics. Gryphon states that the crystalline purity of the G7 alloy results in fewer crystal boundaries than conventional copper or silver conductors. Conventional cable conductors with crystal impurities distort high frequencies as the signal passes through grain boundaries in the metal. The G7's purity eliminates this mechanism, providing what Gryphon describes as pure, open high frequencies and a natural, non-resonant tonal quality across the full audio range.
All signal conductors in the Vanta series are solid-core, not stranded. Solid-core construction eliminates the strand-to-strand contact points present in stranded wire that can introduce micro-distortions, and it contributes to the mechanical stability of the cable geometry.
Design Philosophy
Gryphon's stated approach to cable design centers on four parameters: low impedance, low inductance, low capacitance, and ultra-wide bandwidth. They are explicit that Vanta cables are not designed as filters and contain no passive compensation or filter networks. Gryphon's view is that exotic windings, complex geometries, or oversized conductor gauges are not just unnecessary but actively detrimental to transparency. The Vanta's design is as direct as possible, optimizing the fundamental physics rather than adding corrective complexity.
Construction
Every cable in the Vanta series shares the same core construction approach. Solid-core G7 Silver-Gold conductors are arranged in a helical geometry using PTFE (Teflon) tubes to separate and position each conductor group, maintaining precise geometry regardless of bend radius or ambient vibration. This mechanical stability is a deliberate design element: Gryphon notes that the geometry must remain consistent under all real-world conditions for the electrical parameters to remain stable.
A braided screen of silver-plated copper wires surrounds the conductor assembly to eliminate noise and electromagnetic interference. The entire cable is then wrapped in a glossy jet-black polyurethane jacket, chosen for maximum mechanical stability and flexibility. Polyurethane is also described as vibration-absorbent, contributing to the Vanta's mechanical isolation.
The digital cables in the series extend this construction with additional layers tuned to the specific impedance requirements of each format. The 75 ohm coaxial digital cable adds a silicone-based rubber tube layer and employs a twisted-helix conductor geometry, while the construction is otherwise consistent with the rest of the series.
Connectors and Termination
Connectors are selected and specified by Gryphon from leading manufacturers and terminated in-house at Gryphon's facility in Denmark. AC power cables use Oyaide connectors: the Oyaide C-079/C-279 IEC connector with blades plated in 24K gold and pure silver, and the Oyaide P-079/P-079e AC plug with a triple plating of deoxidized phosphor bronze, 24K gold, and palladium. Signal cables use Neutrik connectors with gold-plated contacts and custom anodized aluminum housings designed to Gryphon's specifications. Speaker cables use fully custom Gryphon-designed spade or banana terminations in solid copper with a double plating of silver and gold, housed in custom anodized aluminum. The 75 ohm digital cable uses Oyaide SLSB 4N Silver BNC connectors with Teflon insulation.
Every connection is silver-soldered under a high-power microscope at Gryphon's facility. Gryphon describes this level of quality control as more typical of medical or military production than audio manufacturing, with each termination inspected to ensure nothing is left to chance.
The Vanta Series
The Vanta series includes eight cable types, covering every connection in a complete high-end audio system. Power cords and speaker cables use the heaviest 13 AWG G7 conductors. XLR and RCA interconnects use 16 AWG conductors. The phono cable uses four 21 AWG conductors with an SME 5-pin tonearm connector available in straight or 90-degree angled configurations. Digital cables are available in 75 ohm coaxial (BNC) and 110 ohm balanced (XLR AES/EBU) formats, as well as a USB-A to USB-B cable that combines 21 AWG G7 signal conductors with 23 AWG silver-plated OFC power conductors. Gryphon notes that the introduction of digital cable types to the Vanta series marks the first time in Gryphon's history that a full digital cable range has been offered alongside the analog types.
With their jet-black polyurethane jackets, bespoke connector housings, and Breakout Boxes on speaker cable terminations, the Vanta cables are designed to be the visual as well as sonic complement to any Gryphon system.
